Ruto should kneel to Raila or forget the Presidency

“Does Ruto think he can be a President without Raila?”  these are the words of Raila Odinga in January 2018. Almost everyone dismissed him as a mad old man.

But it is now becoming clear, that Raila knew what he was saying. There is no way Ruto is going to be President without Baba’s endorsement.

In January 2018, nobody knew for sure that Raila was going to be sworn in as the people’s President. Nobody would have even thought about the famous handshake which was to come less than two months later.

Since the handshake, Raila has accompanied Uhuru to functions, more than Ruto has. Yes, Raila has come to destroy Jubilee and he is doing it in a way that only Raila can.

In October last year, Raila asked ODM MPs to vote in favor of the controversial Fuel tax bill. Ruto’s efforts to frustrate the bill were not fruitful.

It is now 2019, less than two years since we held an election and it is Ruto who is opposing the government and not Raila. Raila has reduced the DP into an opposition leader. He is opposing the same government he wants to inherit.

In March, Ruto said that he was being targeted by the war on corruption. This came in the aftermath of the Arror and Kimwarer Dams Scandals.

Raila put him under a lot of pressure to explain how he knew about the sh.7 billion and not 21 billion.

Raila’s entry into the government has alienated Ruto from President Uhuru Kenyatta. This week, the former Prime Minister will be in China trying to chart the future of the country as Ruto is left to Tanga Tanga in church harambees.

Things can be so easy for Ruto if he is endorsed for Presidency by the man he so much hates.

Yes, in the words of Raila ‘Ruto cannot be President without Raila’

The other option is for the DP to get used to being an opposition leader, a role he will officially occupy after 2022.
