A Police boss lost his life in a grisly Monday accident that happened along the Webuye-Eldoret road.
The boss, Charles Mwai Mureithi was the Deputy OCS of Lumakanda Police Station, and his driver Bramwel Sarai, also sustained serious injuries.
Bramwel was rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital while the Police boss died on the spot.
Another occupant of the police vehicle was one Abdikadir Mohamed who was in the back seat of the vehicle, also died as he was being rushed to hospital.
How it all Happened
In the morning accident, a fuel tanker, KCH 264N/ZE 3223, was rolling down on its way to Webuye.
But on noticing a speeding police car approaching it, the driver swerved the trailer’s cabin to avoid a head-on collision.
The fateful police car with its three occupants would later hit the fuel tank and roll severally before landing in a ditch.
ODM Chief Information Officer Philip Etale would later turn to Social Media to express his condolences to the police boss.
“Mureithi has been very instrumental in fighting criminal elements in Lugari and in his tenure, crime in Lugari has gone down remarkably.
“To the family of my friend Mureithi, may the good Lord grant you the strength to overcome the loss,” he posted on Facebook.
Lumakanda Police Station made headlines after the station was voted the best by IPOA.
The police post clinched the position after it displayed that it had segmented its cells according to age and gender.
