Chaos as enraged police driver turns against boss, threatens to shoot him

Chaos erupted in Nyandarua County when an Administration Police (AP) driver, for unknown reasons, threatened to shoot dead a senior police officer.

The driver, who in the first place works for a Laikipia County AP drove his boss Julia Irungu, a Laikipia Deputy County Commissioner, to Nyandarua in a police Toyota Land Cruiser.

The two went to a pub in Nyandarua reportedly where the fracas came up.

The driver is said to have an exchange with the Nyandarua officer while pointing a gun at him before other officers stopped him in his tracks.

“We rushed outside and found the two police officers in a heated argument. The instructor threatened the AP driver with dire consequences stating that he was his senior. He accused the AP driver of being disrespectful to him. It is at this point that the AP removed a gun and threatened to shoot the other officer,” said an eye witness.

When reported to authorities, Nyandarua County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich confirmed that the incident is under investigations and will be treated as misuse of power because no one was hurt in the altercation.

“Administratively, the two officers are from Laikipia County, but the officer is being investigated for misuse of a firearm. It’s a matter of disciplinary action since no one was injured in the incident,” said Mr Cherutich.

Also in question is what the Laikipia Deputy county Commissioner was doing in Nyandarua, how the AP driver got the gun to be using it for threats and what exactly was his beef with the Nyandarua officer he was threatening.
