Atwoli Snubbed Burial of Man He is Accused of Killing

Moments after vocal Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot alleged that the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli may have killed his deputy, Kenyans are weighing in on the matter.

Atwoli did not attend the burial of his deputy COTU Secretary General, raising eyebrows.

In the discussion that elicited mixed reactions, controversial blogger Robert Alai remarked on his Twitter handle that the absence of Atwoli from the burial could be an indictment.

The senator expressed the disturbing statements after Atwoli remarked that he had been shown in a vision that Deputy President William Ruto won’t be in the ballot come 2022 Elections.

“2022, tutaenda uchaguzini kumchagua president na mtapiga kura sana, itakuwa kura ya amani kwa sababu tutakuwa tumebadilisha katiba. (In 2022, we shall go to elections to elect the president and you will vote a lot. It will be a peaceful election because we will have changed the constitution)

Nami nataka kuwaambia kitu moja, jina la William Samoei Ruto halitakuwa. (And I want to tell you one thing, William Samoei Ruto’s name will not be there.) You can take it to the bank for free,” he remarked to a charged crowd.

In a scathing rejoinder, Senator Cheruiyot claimed that Atwoli was planning to kill DP Ruto the same way he allegedly threatened his deputy-MP George Muchai.

Muchai was sprayed with bullets along the Kenyatta Avenue-Uhuru Highway roundabout.

His two bodyguards and a driver also died on the spot in the early Saturday morning shootout.

Atwoli was to later deny any links to the murder of his Deputy COTU Secretary General. He, however, admitted having internal disagreements with the MP.

“He was never a threat to me or us at Cotu and the differences we had were very healthy for the trade union movement and based on issues at hand.

“Despite our differences, which are normal in life, he remained a friend and a colleague. Remember we grew up with George in Nairobi and had known each other for the last 50 years,” he said then.
