As the country continues to brainstorm over insecurity rise witnessed by recent unforeseen attacks, critical measures have already been taken in Mandera following the recent foreigners kidnapping tragedy.
The Government of Kenya has evacuated Cuban doctors attached to Wajir and Garissa Counties after the abduction of their colleagues, Assel Herera Correa (General Physician) and Landy Rodriguez(Surgeon), in Mandera on April 12.
Wajir Governor Abdi Mohamud told reporters that his administration was directed to evacuate the two Cuban doctors to Nairobi following a national security advisory.
Garissa OCPD Aaron Morasae disclosed that the team from Garissa left on Saturday morning, and it was not clear when they would resume work.
Mandera elders are in Somalia to negotiate with their counterparts the release of two Cuban doctors seized by suspected al Shabaab militants on Friday.
Elders in the Somali community are highly regarded and have the ability to resolve dangerous and sometimes complex issues.
At least 10 of them left for Somalia yesterday to start the talks.
