The Orange Democratic Party, ODM has today announced that it has withdrawn form the April 25th by-election in Wajir West Constituency.
According to ODM, it’s decision to withdraw from the polls came after high level party consultations which arrived at the decision to reciprocate Jubilee Party’s earlier gesture not to field candidates in by elections in Ugenya & Embakasi South.
In the run-up to the by-elections in Ugenya and Embakasi South, Jubilee Party did not field candidates in what was widely viewed as a spirit of the Handshake.
ODM party had already picked Prof Mohamed Yusuf Elmi as its candidate for Wajir West by-election.
Elmi was to face off with former MP Mohamed Kolosh whose election was nullified of by the Supreme.
Kolosh who is now running on a Jubilee Party ticket is surely the man to beat after this latest development.
Other candidates are Ford Kenya’s Daudi Muhammed Ali and Kanu’s Abdirahman Mohamed.
