Families of victims of the Ethiopian Plane crash that took place in March have now gone after Boeing, filing case files as they seek compensation fro the American plane maker.
The Boeing 737 Max-8 plane crash cost the lives of 157 people of different nationalities. Out of the 36 Kenyan victims, eight families have filed a case against Boeing.
Through a consortium of Kenyan and American lawyers the families claim the aircraft operated by Ethiopian Airlines had faulty systems based on preliminary reports they have received.
“Obviously what these families want is compensation for their loved ones who died during that unfortunate crash and what we seek to do is file claims against the manufacturer of the aircraft because clearly from what we have, the aircraft had problems with its system that led to the crash,” said Carlos Velasquez, one of the lawyers representing the families.
Another lawyer, Laban Opande, added that they seek to help the families with the legal burden as they have already gone through much emotionally and spiritually.
This is as some of the affected families had to bury soil from the crash site since no body was recovered and the DNA analysis will take six months.
