How Air Mauritius used Eric Omondi to award fake Air ticket

A social media user has narrated how Mauritanian carrier Air Mauritius Limited awarded her two sham air tickets during the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSC) Awards Gala held in November 2018 at the Nairobi Arboretum.

Air Mauritius happened to be one of the sponsors of the event that was MCd by celebrated Kenyan comedian Eric Omondi. Stephanie Wanderi won two return tickets to Mauritius courtesy of the airline.

Wanderi says that the company informed her that although she had won the tickets, she couldn’t travel to Mauritius during the peak season. She cooley welcomed the news and began preparations for her trip which she intended to take in April this year.

She, however, says that in February and March 2019, Air Mauritius ignored all her calls, e-mails and messages that she had sent seeking clarification on her tickets so she could subsequently make bookings for her accommodation in Mauritius.

After unsuccessful efforts to reach the Air Mauritius offices, she decided to write an e-mail to a senior manager at the airline who responded and told her that in order for them to confirm her travel, she needed to pay $900 in taxes.

Wanderi couldn’t quite understand why she had to pay an extra $900 for tickets she had been awarded and more so why they hadn’t disclosed this information earlier.

She ends her Facebook post by condemning corporates which partner with such fraudulent companies and dupe unsuspecting Kenyans into such sham awards.
