Chelsea Legend Who Was Tired of Ronaldinho’s Dribbling Trick and Promised to Hospitalize Him

Ronaldinho Gaucho was admittedly one of the best player and an absolute joy to watch for football lovers during his time at Barcelona.

Arguably the best dribbler of his generation, the Brazil legend dazzled on the pitch with his quick feet, vision and trickery.

On his day Ronaldinho was unstoppable and teams came to fear playing against him, especially when surrounded by the likes of Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto’o.

Standout performances include against Real Madrid in 2005, when he scored twice at the Bernabeu and received a standing ovation from the home fans.

It takes a lot for Madridistas to appreciate a Barcelona player, but Ronaldinho was that good during the 3-0 win.

Another incredible display came away to Chelsea in the 2004/05 Champions League. Ronaldinho scored arguably his best ever goal.

On the edge the box, the now 39-year-old jigged and used the outside of his right foot to curl the ball into the back of the net. Stamford Bridge was stunned.

Ronaldinho faced Chelsea six times between 2005 and 2007 and on every occasion he came up against Claude Makelele in the middle of the park.

The Brazilian used every skill possible to unlock Chelsea’s defence and now Makelele has recalled a conversation they had after he tried one too many “PlayStation tricks”.

“At one point, Ronaldinho crossed the line,” the Frenchman told William Gallas in a recent interview with one Sport publication.

“I went over to him and said: ‘Kiddo, I’d rather you show good manners in dribbling against me because with all of your PlayStation tricks… I’ll send you to the hospital.’

Makelele wasn’t one to be messed with and clearly he had had enough of Ronaldinho trying to flick the ball over his head at every opportunity.

What a rivalry that was.
