A Jubilee Lawyer has warned President Kenyatta to come clear on his war on corruption or forever hold his peace.
The vocal lawyer who has a case involving top-flight judges in the land intimated that President Kenyatta should declare his war on Deputy William Ruto without using veils and cover-ups.
This comes hot on the heels of a major fallout within Jubilee leaders rallying behind President Kenyatta’s big four legacy agenda, and a splinter group drumming up support for DP Ruto’s 2022 succession politics.
Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi posted on his Twitter handle that President Uhuru has three years to rule, and reign, and that he cannot afford to go slow on his Deputy.
He also said that he cannot continue spending time with former premier Raila Odinga plotting for the downfall of William Ruto.
Impeachment motion
Siaya Senator James Orengo pledged on Sunday to institute an impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto.
Orengo said a Deputy President can be kicked out of office if it’s found that he or she has violated the Constitution or any other law.
The Senator said the country cannot move forward with a Deputy President who is at the centre, any time a corruption case is mentioned.
“I want to repeat here and now that the Senate together with the National Assembly, we want to bring a motion of impeachment to kick out DP Ruto from office,” Orengo said.
Addressing Ugenya residents during campaigns for the Ugenya by-election, Orengo said Article 150 of the Constitution is enough to throw out DP Ruto. He was campaigning for Chris Karan.
Orengo added that the threshold for the removing of the Deputy President in office on the constitutional grounds is much lower than the criminal prosecution threshold.
