Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has on Thursday stated that the deal between Cuba and Kenya on doctors transfer programme was not handled with decorum.
Speaking at the senate, Hon Sakaja related how Kenyan leaders welcomed Cuban doctors with high esteem whereas, Kenyans in Cuba live in pathetic conditions.
“Mr speaker we can not value visitors more than our own. We provide luxuries to Cuban doctors yet Kenyans doctors live in squalor.” said Sakaja.
This is after one of the 50 doctors who were sponsored by the Kenyan government to further their studies in Cuba was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Kenyan doctors through their umbrella of Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union has requested the government to terminate the programme over mistreatment of its members in Cuba.
