A group of passengers traveling from Kakamega to Nairobi managed to get their driver arrested after he displayed reckless tendencies.
The passengers who had boarded a night bus were offended after the driver ignored numerous requests to stop over speeding.
According to Maurine Ondari who boarded the bus at Majengo area, the reckless driver caused them to fear for their lives.
“When we approached the steep road after Riat in Kisumu, I knew we were done,” she told reporters.
A group of passengers stood from their seats and went to scold the driver at the front of the bus, forcing him to stop the bus and get off at the Mamboleo roundabout where police were called and made the arrest.
“We had to act or perish. The driver seemed unfit to drive. We literally had to lift him from the driver’s seat,”one of the passengers, Harizon Wechuli told the media.
The suspect would later deny that he was driving the bus and police could not ascertain whether he had been drunk at the time of his arrest.
Mr Anderson Odak, the owner of the bus told police that he was not aware that the crew had taken his vehicle.
He claimed to have given instructions for the bus to remain parked for a prospective buyer to view it.
“We have already arranged how passengers will be transported to Nairobi but I have to sack the entire crew,” he told reporters.
