Why Manchester United Captain, Ashley is unhappy with the penalty awarding decision by Moss

Arsenal striker Lacazette was falling all over the field just like he has been in all other games but this time round his fall foul that saw Arsenal get a penalty has been criticized across board in a game that was well shared by both teams although many believe United showed better play.

Ashley Young has slammed referee Jon Moss for his decision to award Arsenal a penalty in their win against Manchester United.

Unai Emery’s side were winning by one goal when Moss pointed to the spot in the second half for a challenge by Fred on Alexandre Lacazette.

Replays showed it was a soft penalty to award and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ashley Young both came out after the 2-0 defeat to voice their opinions on the decision.

“Today is disappointing I think even the penalty was harsh,” Young told MUTV. “In my eyes it’s never a penalty but it’s up to the ref to make these decisions.

“It’s disappointing when you come to a place like the Emirates and you create that many chances you should go on and win the game, so, for us, it’s disappointing.

“Even when they got the first goal we created chances to win the game and on another day we take them and go home celebrating with three points.”

Solskjaer was also unhappy with the decision to award the second half penalty which doubled Arsenal’s lead.

“I don’t think it is,” Solskjaer said when asked about the penalty. “But that’s the decision he made, I don’t think there’s enough contact to merit a penalty. It’s not a dive, no, no, no. Fred is apparently very, very strong.”

United now have six days to recover ahead of their next game against Wolves in the FA Cup quarter final at the weekend.
