CJ Maraga Joins in Grand Mullah vs Justice Mohamed War

This morning, Chief Justice David Maraga responded to Ahmednasir Abdullahi’s claims that some judges of the Supreme Court received bribed in order to influence the results of the Wajir Gubernatorial petition results.

While giving his speech at the State of The Judiciary address, Maraga challenged Senior Counsel Abdullahi to file a petition to the Judiciary Service Commission [JSC] if he had evidence of the alleged corruption.

The lawyer has been pressuring the Chief Justice on both social and mainstream media for the last few weeks and it looks like Maraga finally bowed down to the pressure.

The outspoken counsel had on Friday, February 15, claimed four dissenting judges received bribes from unnamed politician to influence the outcome of Wajir gubernatorial election petition.

The lawyer further claimed sources within the apex court had confided there was no clear majority endorsement of the decision to uphold the win until Thursday, February 14, when Justice Mohamed Ibrahim changed his mind to make it four against three.

Even though Maraga acknowledged the Judiciary is riddled with corruption, he assured Ahmednasir the Judicial Service Commission will only take action if he files a petition against the corrupt judges.
