Chief Justice David Maraga has vowed to punish his contemporaries if they are found with dirty hands involved in corruption!
Last week, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi claimed that Supreme Court Judge, Mohamed Ibrahim, was bribed with Sh 50 million by Wajir Governor, Mohamed Abdi, to rule in his favor in a petition filed by a Wajir County resident.
Maraga urged Ahmednasir to file a petition at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and assured him that the corrupt Judge will be punished.
“For us to succeed and reduce it (corruption) every Kenyan of goodwill must say no to it.”
“In the last few weeks, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi publicly claimed that some judges of the Supreme Court were bribed to decide the Wajir gubernatorial petition in the way they did.”
“I challenge him to file a petition and assure him that the Judicial Service Commission will take stern and appropriate action against those judges if given the evidence of alleged corruption,” Maraga said.
On his part, Ahmednasir assured the CJ that he will file a petition that will have overwhelming evidence against a number of Supreme Court judges.
“I wish to thank the Hon CJ David Maraga for this… my client’s petition to the JSC is almost ready.”
The CJ has vowed to stamp out any form of corruption that could be taking place in the Supreme Court.
