The office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has said that it will be appealing the court ruling of a former government cashier who was accused of an unlawful acquisition of Sh12, 980,000.
On its official Twitter account, the DPP said that the government employee, identified as Mr Perminus K. Njoroge worked as a former cashier with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
He was on Tuesday arraigned and charged with unlawful acquisition of Ksh.12, 980,000 from the ministry in 2011.
The court ruled that he be fined Ksh.600,000 or an alternative of 1 year imprisonment.
But the DPP was seemingly not satisfied by the ruling and now seeks to appeal the case.
