Attempts that were made by the former wife to Ukambani politician Johnston Muthama to secure a stay in Muthama’s home have flopped.

According to the ruling of the High Court, Agness Kavindu Musyoka, who divorced the politician back in 1983 was living in Muthama’s home in Mua, Machakos County, at his will and not as a wife.

“The picture that emerged was not that of a spouse but of a person accommodated initially as the mother of the respondent’s (Muthama) daughter,” ruled judge William Musyoka, who heard the testimonies of the two parties and their witnesses.

The documents filed in court reveals that Muthama married Kavindu in 1975 under customary law and they had three children. They later divorced in 1983.

Muthama then continued the affair in 1996, which saw them get another child, a relationship Kavindu termed as remarriage.

However, the respondent (Muthama) stated that the remarriage narrative by Kavindu did not involve reviving the already divorced marriage.
