It is a shame if you’re a Kenyan and you’ve not taken a trip between Mombasa and Nairobi on the SGR! It is almost 2 years since President Uhuru Kenyatta launched the Madaraka Express Passenger Train.
Uhuru was one of the passengers on the first trip on May 31st 2017. Since then, there have been more than one million passengers. And the trip from Mombasa to Nairobi is just spectacular.
The train passes through the biggest national park in Kenya; Isavo West national Park. You will also get a magestic view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. It is for these and more reasons that Madaraka Express has been ranked as one of the 13 remarkable rail tours in the world.
The UK based Telegraph newspaper, has ranked the SGR seventh on their list of the most mesmerizing rail tours in the world. To put this into perspective, it is the only rail in Sub Saharan Africa that has been ranked on the list.
This means that the SGR is now one of the many tourist attraction in Kenya. It is not a joke, our neighbors Uganda have nothing to show their tourists. They recently added curvaceous women as one of their tourist attractions.
