Matiang’i Launches Competition for Cleanest Police Station

Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has announced an ambitious plan to compel all police stations maintain high levels of cleanliness. In his bit to reform the police service, Matiang’i said he will introduce an anual competition to identify and reward the cleanest police stations in the country.

While addressing senior officers at the Kenya Police Staff Training College in Loresho, Matiang’i stated that Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of the winning station in the competition will be promoted automatically.

The CS stated that citizens have a right to be served in clean environments that are not demeaning or do not dehumanize them.

“I will go to Naivasha Police Station myself, that’s where we’re going to begin this competition; we want clean police stations. When wananchi come to be served, let them be served in a clean and respectful environment. We will begin the assessment after July when you have had enough time to talk to your commanders in the field,” said Mr. Matiang’i.

“And we agreed with I.G (Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet) that the OCS of the cleanest and best police station in the country should be promoted automatically.”

Now we know that Kenyan police officer like to tanga tanga away from their stations looking for kitu kidogo. So we don’t know who will be responsible for the cleaning exercise. But I can bet on my money that they will be using inmates to do their work.

Yaani, mahabusu wamepata kazi ingine sasa. But at least a few officers will stay at the station to lead the cleaning exercise. We know policemen are very corrupt. Don’t be surprised when you start hearing of biasness during inspection. Some OCSs will also part with huge amounts of money to get that promotion.

After all this is Kenya, cartels are everywhere.
