West Ham have reportedly made contact with the representatives of Sunderland striker Josh Maja.
According to the Sunderland Echo, the Hammers are keen to snap him up and would consider allowing him to return to the League One side on loan for the remainder of the season.
Maja is out of contract in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.
Several clubs, including teams in England, Germany and France have all been linked with moves, while Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic are also believed to be keen.
Sunderland face the prospect of losing the player for nothing at the end of the season if they decide against cashing in this month.
It had been claimed that Sunderland would prefer the option of seeing the player return on loan if they were to sell during the January transfer window, which could make a move to West Ham the best option for both parties.
