I wonder if heaven’s got a ghetto… one of my favorite Tupac tunes. I never thought much about the answer but if you ask me, I certainly hope not. I refuse to believe that this life is as good as it gets. That this is it.

There is more. There just has got to be more.
I write this in tears. In shock. The terror attack has hurt all of us. Some have felt the pain even more. They are in hospitals, they are wounded and they can never go back to how things used to be. Some have lost livelihoods. Not sure whether there will be a cheque at the end of the month. Others are wondering whether searching cars all day long and being In the frontline of disaster is worth the risk.
Others have paid the ultimate price. They do not get to see another day. Or dream of the future, finish the meal they ordered, call up someone they love, or ever go back home.
We mourn and in our sadness we understand that the world moves on. Your loss is your cross. Your tragedy to be shared in all its gory details, as if you were some creature with no emotion or dignity. It’s a sad realization. One that you will never forget. Maybe never even forgive.

My heart is broken. For the loss, for the pain. For the helplessness, for the unanswered questions. I pray for everyone who was in that complex. Grateful for those who made it, and interceding for the innocent ones gone too soon.

I hope heaven doesn’t have a ghetto.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un
