Who will be the lucky Kenyans to join Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s administration?
It’s almost a year since Sonko’s previous Deputy Polycarp Igathe resigned from his position but Sonko has took his time to finally name his D.G with inside sources revealing that a lot of lobbying and consultations was done before Sonko could make his final pick.
The Governor is finally set to name his Deputy as well as a full cabinet for the people of Nairobi. This comes in a week that saw Sonko’s best performer, Education CEC Janet Ouko resign in a move that all but confirmed the leadership crisis at City Hall.
Speaking from Mombasa, Sonko said that he will name his Deputy Governor and Cabinet once he gets back to Nairobi this Friday(today)
“Tukirudi Nairobi, nakuja na full cabinet nakuja na Deputy Governor…” (When we get back to Nairobi, I will come with the full cabinet and a deputy governor.) said Sonko .
Sonko had previously settled on controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna as his deputy, a decision that was rejected by the County Assembly.
Several CECs have either been sent packing or suspended among them Veska Kangogo, Danvas Makori, and Emma Mukuhi.
Devolution CEC Larry Wambua’s fate remains uncertain leaving three CECs Allan Igambi (Finance), Charles Kerich (Lands) and Mohammed Dagane (Transport) in office.
