[PICTURES] President Kenyatta celebrates Christmas in Mombasa

President Uhuru Kenyatta posted pictures of himself and his family celebrating Christmas Day at the Holy Ghost Cathedral in Mombasa. The President traveled to the coastal city on Monday using the SGR where he interacted with travelers and took selfies with them.

It has always been a norm for the first family to celebrate the festive season at the Kenyan coast and this year was not an exception. In a message on Social media President Kenyatta wished Kenyans a very merry Christmas.

“Margaret and I, together with our family joined Christian faithful for a Christmas Eve Mass at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Mombasa. As we celebrate Christmas and reflect upon God’s blessings for the year, I wish all Kenyans a very Merry Christmas. May God bless you & your families.”

In an earlier post, Uhuru asked Kenyans to spread the Christmas cheer to the less fortunate in society and enjoy responsibly:

“The true gifts of Christmas are not material but rather the opportunity to share the festive season with those who we love and cherish. As you celebrate with family and friends during this festive season, I urge you all do so responsibly. Also remember the less fortunate, and spread to them the festive cheer.”
