Laurent Blanc leading candidate for Man Utd job

Laurent Blanc has emerged as the leading candidate for the Manchester United job on a temporary basis, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning by the Red Devils after a poor run of results in all competitions.

Their 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday was the final straw as the club were cut 11 points adrift of the top four in the Premier League and a further eight points off top spot.

The Times has claimed that Mauricio Pochettino is United’s ‘preferred candidate’ in the summer.

However, the club are looking for somebody to do a job until the end of the season with Michael Carrick taking charge of training until someone is appointed.

And the Daily Mirror claims Blanc is ‘seen as the ideal candidate to take over from Mourinho‘ on a temporary basis.

The report also reckons United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in the mix – but Blanc’s experience at the highest level could give him the edge.

Blanc – who finished his playing career at Old Trafford – has managed his national team, while he has the won the Ligue 1 title in France once with Bordeaux and three times with Paris Saint-Germain as boss.
