Marcus Rashford tells Manchester United team-mates how to beat Liverpool

Marcus Rashford has told his Manchester United team-mates to match Liverpool’s intensity if they’re to have any chance of beating Jurgen Klopp’s side. The England international insists Jose Mourinho’s teams are not underdogs and will head to Anfield with the intention of winning the game. Few are giving Manchester United a prayer against the Premier League leaders, with Liverpool already 16 points ahead of the Red Devils after 16 games.

But Rashford is confident United can close that gap on Sunday and return from their bitter rivals’ home with three valuable points. ‘We don’t go there as underdogs, I think we go there to win the game, like any game,’ he said.

‘But they are a good team, the intensity they play at makes the game difficult, but we have to match that and try to improve it. ‘But I think it is important to focus on us, and see how we can hurt them, and score some goals.’ Rashford admitted his manager acts somewhat differently ahead of big matches and that he’s obsessed with winning such an important fixture.

‘I think he’s a bit different, like we all are leading up to these games,’ Rashford added. ‘It has a special buzz and excitement, and as people we can’t hide that. ‘But he’s a winner, you know, so leading up to the game he’s just thinking about winning, how are we going to win, and what we are going to do to win the game, because the three points is what matters.’
