As the keyboard warriors attacked one another while defending their tribal god fathers, those whom you purport to protect were enjoying high end lunch and laughing at your ‘wisdom’ in matters politics. So when will we ever learn that political competition is not enmity but a career thing?

Pictures shared on Social Media showed the two leaders at Ruto’s palatial castle in Karen. The three had earlier  in the day attended a Requiem Mass for the late Jane Kiano at ACK St. Francis, Karen.

The meeting comes amid rising tension over the 2022 succession politics and the recent calls for a referendum to change the constitution.

At Kiano’s requiem mass, Raila said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and himself are not products of political dynasties as it has always been claimed by some quarters.

Ruto however kept off the Raila debate and focused on his boss Uhuru Kenyatta who he said came to deliberate on a few issues concerning unity and development. This is just a day after Kenyatta asked leaders to stop politics and focus on development saying he would hold his comment until 2022.

Ruto has set his eyes for presidency in 2022 but his allies believe that the only stumbling block between him and the House on the hill is Raila Odinga.

Some of his supporters believe Raila and Uhuru want to change the constitution through a referendum to create a Prime Minister’s post. In the theory, Uhuru will become Prime Minister as Raila becomes President.

President Uhuru has however said that he doesn’t plan on clinging in power and he will retire in 2022. Raila was recently appointed as an AU envoy, a position that some people suggest has elevated him from national politics.
