An MP Trolled After Demanding Obado’s VIP Treatment in Prison

Hon Samuel Atandi, an Alego Usonga Member of Parliament received bitter reactions on social media after he demanded a VIP treatment for Migori governor Okoth Obado who was remanded at Industrial area prison.

Atandi who appeared in an interview on Citizen Tv on Friday was claiming that the law ought to be reviewed to allow high-profile members of society to be remanded in high-standard detention facilities.

“Some Police Stations have better facilities than others such as Kileleshwa. I am sure Obado is not having a good time at Industrial Area.

“I think VIPs should get better treatment as remandees owing to their status in society,” he said.

Atandi further noted that the government ought to put up different facilities to hold only VIPs who are incarcerated or being held in custody.

However, the Alego Usonga MP received support from his Makueni Counterpart Daniel Maanzo who supported the argument suggesting that VIPs may be brutalized in normal prisons.

“When VIPs are in custody, they may meet relatives of those who they are suspected to have hurt. These relatives may mete justice,” the MP added.

The sentiments were met with strong opposition from members of the public who were incensed by the prospect of five-star treatment even for a felon.
