In his speech, Ruto said that the goats are worth five million shillings. He also bought 700 goats for his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Kajiado County Goats auction was aimed at raising funds to pay for the NHIF cover of more than 5,000 vulnerable families in the county.

More than 40,000 residents from the County mostly suffering from chronic illnesses like HIV/AIDS are expected to benefit from the initiative.
