Liverpool to rival Man United for French winger

Liverpool have rekindled their interest in Lyon winger Nabil Fekir.

The Reds were on the verge of landing Fekir last month, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute.

The France international was forced to deny rumours that a knee injury was the cause of the move falling through.

After Liverpool seemingly abandoned their pursuit, Manchester United then moved in with a bid of their own for Fekir.

Boss Jurgen Klopp subsequently appeared to switch his attention to other targets including Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.

But in a blow to United’s chances of landing Fekir, Liverpool have performed a stunning turnaround.

Fekir has only seen 58 minutes of World Cup action for France so that is unlikely to be the cause.

It’s possible that Liverpool fear Fekir joining a direct rival in United so have reignited their interest.

Lyon president Jean Michel-Aulas confirmed the club have held talks with United boss Mourinho.
