Aleix Vidal was seen as a replacement to the spectacular Dani Alves when he was signed by Barcelona in the summer of 2015. Vidal got his dream move and everything seemed set to fall in place, except it didn’t. Over the 3 seasons, Vidal has started just 15 games for La Blaugrana in La Liga. He has started 2 Champions League games in total in his time with the Cules.
Paco Alcacer
Alcacer is often gauged as a casualty of Barcelona’s abundant wealth when it comes to the quality of players who ply their trade for them. Luis Suarez has been absolutely immense for Ernesto Valverde’s side ever since he joined from Liverpool.
Paco Alcacer was signed from Valencia for €30 million but he was always expected to play second fiddle to Suarez. However, Suarez’s levels fitness ensured that Paco was just another bench warmer.
Andre Gomes
It’s hard not to feel for Andre Gomes. The midfielder opened up about his mental health problems and how he has been struggling to shoulder the expectations that come with playing for a club as big as Barcelona.
However, if Barcelona are to get a worthy replacement for the departing Andres Iniesta and find someone who can learn from Rakitic before he fades, they need to sign a new player because Gomes doesn’t look like he can do it.
