FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - One person is dead and two people were taken to the hospital after an assault and shooting early Saturday morning.

It started just after 2:15 a.m. when Fargo Police were dispatched to a report of an aggravated assault and shooting in the 5500 block of 36th Avenue South. Responding officers learned that the suspect chased the victim into an occupied neighboring unit and shots were fired.

An occupant in that unit was hit by gunfire and two people were taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Officers say the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. The FLOCK camera system was used to figure out which way the suspect may have gone and the vehicle was found on the side of the road in the 800 block of 34th Street North.

The Red River Valley SWAT’s armored Bearcat was used to get close and try to make contact with the suspect, but officers say the suspect was not responding.

The regional drone team was called in to get a closer look and officers say the suspect was found dead with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
