Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne is inviting the community to enjoy a series of lunch buffets hosted by its hospitality administration students.
The buffet series will take place Thursday and Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and Feb. 20. Each lunch will feature a soup or salad, an entree, vegetable, starch and a choice of two plated desserts.
This week’s lunch will showcase a pickled beet and apple salad, beef bourguignon, pomme puree, haricots verts lyonnaise and two dessert options: banana mille-feuille with coconut snow or lemon and earl grey opera cake.
Seating will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with tickets priced at $18. Reservations are required, and space is limited to 40 guests per lunch. RSVP as soon as possible at link.ivytech.edu/lunches.
The event, which takes place at the Coliseum Campus, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd., gives students the opportunity to gain real-world restaurant experience.
Taye’s Treats at the mall
There’s a new sweet spot at Glenbrook Square.
Situated next to Chick-Fil-A in the food court, Taye’s Treats recently began serving a variety of baked goods – and soul food – to mall shoppers.
It’s the second location for Taye’s Treats, which opened at 521 Broadway St. in New Haven in December 2023.
At Taye’s Treats, customers can enjoy a selection of cake slices, cookies, brownies and unique offerings like Smith’s “crack grapes,” which are fruit coated in a sweet, sugary layer.
The Glenbrook location will also feature soul food on Sundays, such as fried chicken, meatloaf and mac and cheese.
Taye’s Treats at Glenbrook Square will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Chef duo at BakerStreet
A fellow “Hell’s Kitchen” cast member is joining BakerStreet Executive Chef Magali Ort for a one-of-a-kind Mediterranean dining experience at 5 p.m. Feb. 2 and 6 p.m. Feb. 3.
Ort, who joined the BakerStreet Steak House culinary team last year, will be joined by Michael Lovano, her colleague from Season 23 of the Fox reality competition show starring Gordon Ramsay. Lovano, who works at Medina Country Club in northeast Ohio, will bring his culinary expertise to the event.
Lovano’s expertise is rooted in Mediterranean cooking styles, while Ort draws inspiration from her California roots.
The dinner will feature six courses paired with wine. Details about the menu have not been released.
Tickets are $200 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. Go to BakerStreetFortWayne.com for more information and to buy tickets.
