Get creative.
Jamean Flowers, a professional party planner in St. Louis and owner of Kidz Play Mobile Crafts & Events, suggests preparing a craft that engages a range of ages and interests, such as build-your-own snow globes. “Kids will enjoy creating their own little holiday world inside of their snow globe, whether that be Santa with his reindeer or even a whimsical snowy forest,” she describes. “My daughter Jayla is neurodivergent and loves to watch the snow and glitter swirl around her snow globe, and she feels a sense of pride knowing that she made something she can keep forever!”
Kidz Play specializes in sensory-friendly parties and offers seasonal craft packages with everything you’d need to make snow globes or another project. Flowers and her team set up and host kids’ parties, with full-service planning and decorating services available too.
Another idea the whole family can enjoy: Combine craft time and desserts by decorating gingerbread houses or cookies. Use your favorite recipe for the baked goods and gather icing, sprinkles, candy and other edible embellishments – or check local bakeries for premade kits. Kitchen Conservatory hosts gingerbread house classes and plans to sell any leftover kits in mid-December.
