Kenyans on social media have heaped praise on Harambee Starlets after they overcame Ghana to qualify for the fourth round of Toyo 2020 Olympics.
Starlets overcame the West Africans on Tuesday at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani to set up a date with Zambia in the fourth round. The two teams had played to a barren draw in the first leg played in Ghana and an extra time Jentrix Shikanda strike from the spot settled the third-round clash.
Kenya dominated the game from the start but wastefulness upfront saw them throw away a couple of good goal-scoring opportunities. The game stretched to extra time and looked destined for post-match penalties before the West Africans conceded a penalty which was successfully dispatched by the Vihiga Queens forward to earn Kenya a date with the Zambians.
Should Kenya ease their way past the Shepolopolo, they will face the winner of the duel between Cameroon and Ivory Coast where the aggregate winner will secure a 2020 Olympics ticket.
