Good morning,
It is a beautiful sunny morning and we have very juicy stories to mirror the weather. One of them is that celebrated Kenyan striker Dennis Oliech ‘The Menace’ could have joined the race to replace Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Oliech’s former club Gor Mahia announced on Tuesday evening that they had terminated the striker’s contract because of his decision to join elective politics, a move that is likely to portray the club in bad light.
Oliech’s camp has not commented on this report. But if it is true, then he will be the second footballer to join the race after former Inter Milan midfielder McDonald Mariga. Mariga’s name was controversially submitted to the IEBC as one of the Jubilee candidates. We will be bringing you more on this and other stories on our Opera News App.
Here are the stories making headlines this morning:

Mariga Caught in Jubilee Infighting
Professional football player McDonald Mariga was trapped in behind-the-scenes infighting for the soul of ruling party Jubilee ahead of a looming by-election in Nairobi’s Kibra constituency.
The fight, which began on Monday, pits Jubilee party camps allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto. Dr Ruto’s camp – which favours Mr Mariga’s candidature – sensationally claimed that their rivals in the ruling party, led by Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, had hatched a plot to field a weak candidate for the Kibra election in order to help opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ODM candidate win.
