When Manyatta Constituency MP John Muchiri donated a school bus for St. Benedict Day Secondary School in Kithimu area and having his image featured on the back of the bus, little did he know that his image was about to spark angry reactions from a section of angry Kenyans.
While delivering the bus to the school on Friday, Muchiri said the donation of the buses will improve academic performance in the schools besides assisting members of the local community who will hire the buses at a subsidized cost.
The donation was as a result of a promise Muchiri had made at the beginning of the year to all the schools in his constituency. He had promised a Scool bus for any school which would post exemplary results in the 2018 KCSE results.
But it was, however, his decision to feature his image on the back of the bus that elicited angry reactions from Kenyans who termed the legislator’s act as a Cheap Publicity. Here are the reactions;
We should not even have their names on public projects, it's public funds being used not politician's money.

He is just stupid and seeking publicity like a socialite. And why hasn't the school removed it? Shameless

This is either self inflicted ignorance or madness from the MP, what is the Ministry of Education saying on this ?

This is CDF fund (tax payers money 💵) not his personal money 💵 absolutely nonsense from the MP

Contrary to the thoughts of many, it was however reported that the legislator’s portrait was immediately removed after launching function.
The images and name were removed immediately after launch/handing over. Check from his Facebook page; Hon John Muchiri HSC

FOR ONLINE AND PRESS CONSUMPTION.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who appreciated my good work after, I delivered a school bus and an Academic Complex at St Benedict’s Day Secondary School kithimu yesterday.
However have noted some critiques on the use of my name and graphics during the handing over ceremony of the bus.
Facts
1. The branding was for the handing over ceremony purpose only.
2. Immediately after the bus was dedicated by the priest and I handed it over, the graphics were removed.
3. Am sorry to those who may feel offended but I have 5 more buses to issue out to our Day Secondary Schools and the projects identification graphics will apply to all then will be removed after official handing over.
Thankyou all for the great online response towards my projects as this motivates me more.” Posted Muchiri on his facebook account

Yaqub Otieno It’s clearly written there “sponsored by Hon” not CDF. So there is nothing wrong with the photo.
Mukonyi Muko Felo I got no issue with the portrait, is it stopping the bus from moving? No.so what is the noise for?
