Seven suspects accused of impersonating President Uhuru Kenyatta and conning businessman Naushad Merali Sh10 million were released on a cash bail of Sh100,000 each on Wednesday after denying the charges.
They were arrested on Saturday and accused of mimicking President Uhuru to con the Sameer Africa Chairman of Sh10 million.
Joseph Waswa, Duncan Muchai, Isaac Wajekeche, William Simiyu, David Luganya, Gilbert Kirunja and Anthony Wafula first appeared in court on Monday, and the prosecution sought to have them detained for 10 days, as they concluded investigations.
It is alleged that they used mobile number 0722 208842 to call Naushad Merali, asking him to facilitate the release of the money for the purchase of land, while mimicking the voice of the President.
