Uhuru Kenyatta’s gift that Dennis Ngaruiya’s mother declined has gotten its new owner.
According to The Standard, Nakuru North Deputy County Commissioner Mutua Kisilu revealed that the two-bedroom house will be handed over to another needy family of four.
Kisilu further stated that they were tasked with identifying a family that would appreciate the house after it was turned down.
“We were instructed to profile three families from which one would be picked as the new owners. The lucky family is one of a man who has been living with his three disabled children at a local church,” explained Kisilu.
Ngaruiya made headlines in 2014 during the Kenya Defense Forces Day celebrations held at 3KR Barracks in Lanet.
His poem titled ‘Our Father’ left President Kenyatta in stitches and earned him and his family an invite to State House where he was rewarded with a scholarship and promised a home
The single mother explained that the house did not match the standards of a gift from the Head of State while suggesting that a senior government official might have shortchanged her.
“This is a big joke. Look at this house. It has cracks on the outside and looks like a semi-permanent house while President Uhuru in his wisdom meant well for us as a family.
Why is that officer at State House playing tricks on me and my son? One day President Uhuru will know these tricks,” Wambui stated.
Wambui also disclosed that she was not consulted when the piece of land where the house sits was being purchased.
The incident caught many Kenyans and solicited mixed reactions as others
