Governor Mike Sonko has today come to the rescue of fire victims.
Sonko’s administration today distributed foodstuff and non-food items to victims of recent fire incidents in Kitisuru, Mlango Kubwa, and Viwandani areas.
The governor stated that his administration has fully equipped the disaster management unit to ensure the county government responds to emergency cases on time to avert disasters.
Last month, Sonko announced that Nairobi was set for a upgrade with the multi million Fire Station project that is already taking it’s course.
There had been complaints that the fire stations are less and therefore it serves as a challenge in cases where fire incidents erupt.
In January, Governor Mike Sonko shared photos of the fire station construction site that is underway in Dagorreti South.
The station will have fully equipped fire engines, ambulances, boreholes and other facilities that will enable the Nairobi City County Government respond to disasters in a timely manner in the nearby 5 wards i.e Mutuini ward, Ngando ward, Riruta ward, Uthiru ward and Waithaka ward where the fire station is located.
With this move, there is hope that the issue of delays will be reduced and more Kenyans will be able to access the services.
