Arsenal’s desperation for new signings in the January transfer window was laid bare by West Ham during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at the London Stadium.
In what was another poor away performance from the Gunners, they looked shaky at the back and squandered a number of chances in front of goal.
A lack of genuine width was once again noticeable, too, as Unai Emery relied on wing-backs Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles to provide threat down the flanks.
What Arsenal need is a new centre-back and a new winger and that’s exactly what Emery wants to bring in this month.
“I think the club is working to take some players who can help us during these next four months,” said the Spaniard in a recent press conference.
Iwobi had a frustrating game against West Ham and his performance led Gooners to make a rather embarrassing claim on social media.
Samir Nasri, who recently joined West Ham on a free transfer after 18 months out of action, was fantastic against his former side and provided the assist for Declan Rice’s goal.
And in response to Nasri and Iwobi’s contrasting performances, Arsenal fans said they would genuinely rather have the 31-year-old.
“Maybe the transfer market can help us with a centre-back, but it is not easy because [Konstantinos] Mavropanos is coming back from injury.
“Also a winger, right or left. One player can help us in this position.”
Barcelona’s Denis Suarez is the man Emery is looking to bring in on loan and Arsenal fans are praying a deal can be struck, especially because Alex Iwobi is their only real winger at the moment.
Even at 31, Nasri on a different planet than Iwobi.

We are playing Iwobi who rarely looks up when he gets the ball?!
We rest Ozil after training a whole week!!
What madness is this?!

As for Alex Iwobi. Appreciate he is only 22, but his inconsistent touch and poor final ball is hampering us. We need more quality in the final third. He doesn’t have it.

Anytime Arsenal loses Alex Iwobi is always the best player on the pitch?
