Michuki rules for a second people thought it is going to scare away the investors in the flourishing matatu industry in the country. But seemingly that is not the case, matatu strive even in disguise.
Right now most people are stranded as most matatus have been sent parking due to the harsh rules which they cannot keep with at the moment. The rules were re-introduced due the raising cases of road accidents in the country. Also it was viewed as a better way to curb rogue matatus especially in big cities such as Nairobi.
The rules require that all public service vehicles and even private owned to strictly abide by the rules which have been laid down failure to which it attracts hefty fines.
Even though the rules are tough , the matatu culture in the country can never drown. Most matatus have decided to embrace that rich culture. It is usually characterized by pimping of the matatus color with different graffiti designs.

The interior is also pimped with designer seats and lights. The sound systems and big screens in the matatus make the culture really stand out.
