Blood Clots can be fatal and sometimes deadly. A blood clot may be defined as a group of blood cells that are quite sticky and come together when a blood vessel of the body is damaged. Blood clots occur in the body to prevent bleeding.
They may also occur in case there is a change in the blood composition or a blockage. DVT is the result of a blood clot that may occur in the deep veins of one’s body, generally the legs when travelling.
If the blood clot remains untreated it can separate and travel to the lungs resulting in a pulmonary embolism, which can be extremely fatal. The blood clot may break apart and travel to another organ of the body as well, blocking the flow of blood and resulting in a stroke or a heart attack. A clot sometimes also occurs in the eye, which may disrupt vision causing sudden blindness.
There are a few methods of treating blood clots but none is expense free, well until one twitter nurse found a completely expense free but rather yuckish way of treating the disorder. How you ask?By the use of Leeches. Now if you have no idea what leeches are, here they are…
Here is how they can be used to treat blood clots.. Please ensure you are not eating, you might throw everything up.

When they are sucking blood they release an anaesthetic, which is the reason why you don't feel the leeches when they bite.

Mucus too?
They then use suction and mucus to stay on their host. Once they open up a bite wound they secrete an anti-clotting enzyme called Hirudininto the bloodstream so that blood will keep flowing.

The attach themselves to their hosts only until they become full, after which they will simply fall off and start digesting the blood they sucked out. Sometimes the blood will continue to seep for hours after the leech has been removed, which is due to the anti-clotting enzyme.

Do not pull it off..
If a leech attached to you, don't pull it off, as the mouth parts can remain under your skin and leave a slowly healing granuloma, or lump. "You can encourage the leech to detach on its own by heating it with a lighted cigarette; you can apply table salt.
