Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has come out to express frustration over the poor working relationship between herself and Governor Mike Sonko. Passaris complained that her position as Nairobi Women Rep has been undermined as Sonko has avoided engaging and that communication between the two offices have not been happening.
The Women Rep claimed that she had tried contacting Sonko more than nine times but claimed her concerns were disregarded.
She added that she was in talks with dutch investors who were interested in building a Sh9 billion waste management plant but feared that the initiative may not materialise if the Governor does not engage her.
Passaris also gave the example of the county cleaning exercise organised by Sonko and attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“How many functions have happened in Nairobi without me. I wasn’t involved in cleaning the city. It is because the governor did not invite me. It is now clear he looks down upon my office,” she said.
The legislator called on the county boss to respect her office as she was a leader elected by voters in Nairobi.
“They need to respect me because I got more than 800,000 votes in this county,” Passaris stated.
