Kenyans on twitter have reacted to the move by the Director of Public Prosecution after he ordered that Jacqueline Wanjiru Maribe and Joseph Kuria Irungu alias Jowie be charged with the murder of Monica Kimani. A statement released this morning said that DPP Noordin Haji had independently reviewed the evidence so far on record. “I am satisfied that there exists a prima facie case to warrant criminal prosecution,” Mr Haji stated… “I have therefore directed that they be immediately arraigned before the High Court and charged accordingly.”
It is not indicated whether the evidence that is currently on record includes the report after the investigations in South Sudan or not. A section of Kenyans have raised concern asking on the progress of the South Sudan investigations as well as whether DPP Noordin Haji gave his move based on partial evidence.
Has anyone considered that both Joseph Irungu alias Jowi and Jacque Maribe could be victims of very high stakes circumstances; victims who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?
Why is the DPP ignoring the likely South Sudanese link in this homicide case?— Royal Lady (@RoyalKenyah) October 9, 2018
The slain Monica Kimani allegedly had links with a South Sudanese politician who is alleged to be partly her source of wealth. Even after the father to Monica Kimani revealed that he knew this said politician, days later, the man spoke saying that he knew nothing about the family and had never met them. On her trip to Kenya, before her murder , It is alleged that Monica Kimani was carrying large amounts of cash far above the maximum of hard currency one is allowed out of South Sudan but Awet allegedly used his influence to grant her safe passage.
These details are featured in an investigative documentary by John Allan Namu; the details expose the South Sudanese politicians, money laundering and how they spread their wealth with so much ‘ease’, across East Africa and have luxurious lives in other countries while their people continue to suffer. Kenyan still have questions and they hope that the Director of Criminal Investigations will eventually give answers to this.
Just who was Monica and what exactly was her assignment in South Sudan that she made so much wealth in so short time.
What did she hold that she had to be eliminated? Who’s asset was she in SS? Must be powerful. Let’s see what DCI will come out with from SS.
