Investigations into the murder of former Nation Media Group (NMG) employee Monica Kimani took a new twist on October 4 after DNA tests and fingerprint analysis conducted by detectives placed prime suspect Joseph “Jowie’ Irungu at the scene of the crime.

However ,Investigations by detectives have revealed that Monica Kimani’s brutal killing could be a case of premeditated murder.

Kamau’s ID was used by the main suspect in the murder, Joe Irungu, to sign in at the residence where Monica lived on the night she was killed.

Detectives further revealed that Kamau was invited by a friend as a casual worker at a construction site in Royal Park estate which is the same estate that Jacque Maribe lives in.

At the construction site, the security guard surrendered his ID at the gate to the site guard as required by protocol.

The Lavington guard later realised that his ID card was missing when he clocked out and asked the management to inform him once they found it after he left his contacts with them.

Police reports disclosed that Kamau was on off-duty from September 17, two days before Monica’s murder.

Irungu who is the fiancé to Citizen TV anchor Jacque Maribe is the central suspect in the murder of Ms. Kimani who was found dead with her throat slit in a bathtub at her house in Lamuria Apartments, Kilimani Estate, Nairobi County on Thursday evening on September 20.
