For several weeks now, the once powerful and former ruling party, Jubilee, has been undergoing turbulence after splitting into two warring factions.
A section of the party led by EALA MP Kanini Kega has been at loggerheads with the other team led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jeremiah Kioni over internal leadership wrangles.
Uhuru, who has defied a legally-mandated exit from politics as a former Head of State, will today host expelled officials of the former ruling party for the National Delegate Conference (NDC) at Nairobi’s Ngong racecourse.
Bomas of Kenya, Uhuru’s first choice, was reported to be unavailable due to renovation works which began on May 16 and are expected to go on for eight weeks.
This comes after the faction led by Kega ratified leadership changes which saw the former President “retired” as Party Leader and all his allies toppled.
The EALA MP replaced Jeremiah Kioni as Secretary General with Vice Chairperson David Murathe expelled and National Treasurer Kagwe Gichohi suspended for two years.
Do you think Uhuru should resign from active politics as required by law and leave the party management to others?
