Former CS Matiangi’s woes deepened on Thursday after he was summoned by the DCI who indicated in their report their intention to question him about an alleged raid at his Karen home which is said to have happened on  8th February.

A week ago, news broke that the DCI had raided the home of former interior CS and retrieved CCTV footage with a motive to reveal the truth about the events of 8th Feb. According to Matiangi’s lawyer,  Danstan Omari he alleged that his client’s life was in danger and on that day, the ex- CS had been subjected to harassment from police officers who stormed his home.

In response to this summon, Matiangi who is accused of spreading false information and is at risk of being prosecuted if he fails to comply with the order; revealed that he is out of the country but will be represented by his lawyer.

While speaking to the press, Omari stated that they were yet to be served with a summon and therefore cannot acknowledge the social media reports.

“My client has not been served according to the law and we don’t recognize what we are seeing in social media until we are served properly,” he stated

In other news, Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has hit back at Kenyans who predict a looming fallout between him and the head of state saying that their relationship is intact. He further accused the media of being paid to fuel the narrative.

The National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) has increased the price of a 90kg bag of maize from KSh 5,100 to KSh 5,600 NCPB managing director (MD) Joseph Kimeto made the announcement when he appeared before the Public Investments Social Services Administration and Agriculture Committee.
