DCI boss Amin Mohammed has finally issued a statement responding to claims that police raided former Interior CS Matiangi’s home on Wednesday night with an intention of arresting him.
In a detailed explanation, the DCI boss refuted the allegations and further termed the incident as a stage-managed and malicious move by the former CS and his allies to spread misinformation.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, Matiangi’s lawyers had claimed that the former CS’s life was in danger. Azimio party leader Raila Odinga also came out strongly to condemn the night arrest attempt.
According to the account of events shared by the DCI, the media had been locked out from Matiangi’s residence and the former CS had a meeting with his guards and lawyers minutes before news of the home raid broke.
A section of Kenyans had also questioned why there were no photos to prove that police were indeed present at Matiangi’s residence on that night.
