Uhuru & Raila Told Kalonzo to Keep Off Speaker Race ; “Accept and Move On; It’s Ruto’s Time” Mt Kenya Elders Tell Uhuru and Raila & Details Emerge On How Ruto Plans To Make Mudavadi Prime Minister Without Amending The Constitution

Good morning,

The race for the national assembly speaker seat and the speaker of senate position came to an end on Thursday after Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula and former Kilifi governor Amason Kingi clinched the respective seats.

Wetangula who had been fronted by the Kenya Kwanza camp beat his Azimio competitor Kenneth Marende with 85 votes in the first round and although he did not meet the required threshold of 2/3 of the votes, he was declared the winner and sworn in after Marende withdrew from the race.

Wetangula who took over from the outgoing speaker Justin Muturi will be deputized by Kenya Kwanza’s Gladys Boss Shollei who beat her competitor Farah Maalim after a tough race. Shollei garnered 198 votes against Maalim’s 139 votes.

Unlike the elections for the speaker of the national assembly which went smoothly, drama was witnessed during the election of the speaker of the senate after Azimio allied senators walked out after learning that their preferred candidate Kalonzo Musyoka quit the race.

Kingi who emerged as the winner to become the next speaker of the senate will be deputized by UDA’s Kathuri Murungi.

Following the concluded elections in the house of the senate and the house of national assembly, Kenyans are now looking forward to the unveiling of the list of cabinet secretaries with the hope that the incoming President Ruto will keep his promise of 50 % representation by women.
