What Sonko Demanded During Secret Meeting With Uhuru & Raila;Chebukati Says Ruto Should Explain how He Knew 1m Voters Were Transferred & Uhuru’s Company Sues Mohamed Ali After His Remarks

Good morning,

The decision by the high court yesterday to clear former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to vie for Mombasa’s Gubernatorial seat has rattled up the political temperature in the coastal county.

Sonko’s reacquaintance and newfound friendship with his former foe, President Uhuru Kenyatta, clearly depicts the politics that are run in Kenya with the famous quote by Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago that colloquially says; “usiweke siasa kwa roho, weka kwa lungs, ” perfectly defining the current situation.

It has since emerged that Sonko was contacted by President Uhuru following Nairobi’s gubernatorial debate whereby Azimio candidate Polycarp Igathe performed dismally against Kenya’s Kwanza Johnston Sakaja.

To make matters worse, an opinion poll conducted after the debate still pitied Sakaja as the preferred candidate Nairobians would elect come the August 9 polls with him leading by 39% while Igathe followed closely with 33%.

Sources privy to Opera News have revealed that Sonko’s clearance to vie for governor in Mombasa despite being impeached as Nairobi governor came with irreducible minimums.

Top of the list of demands set to be met by Sonko includes garnering votes for Azimio gubernatorial candidate in Nairobi where he still enjoys massive support from the residents.

This will inevitably intensify the supremacy battle in the coastal city considering that the incumbent, Ali Hassan Joho, had endorsed ODM’s Abdulswamad.

Do you think Sonko’s entry will change the political dynamics in Nairobi as well as Mombasa?
